Big Red solidified his place atop the CCFFL standings blowing out Spit 'n Polish. The names are getting familiar, Barber, Addai, Moss, Hasselbeck each had 16-19 points, Rackers had 15 and Cooley found the end zone as well to propel the Big Red machine over 100 points for the third straight week. Spit fell victim to another less than stellar outing from Eli. Burress and Lendale White each had TDs and Bush had 2 to lead Spit in their 111 - 69 loss.
Back to CALI only managed 82 points in their effort to stay 3-0, but the it was more than enough to win and demoralize the now 0-3 Ghostriders. Brady had 4 TDs for 29 points in his best games of the year. Stover kicked for 16 and both Benson and Coles hit pay dirt to carry CALI. Ghostriders got a TD from Portis (who was on the sidelines while the Redskins failed to get in the end zone on another occasion). TJ had a big day with a TD and 100+ yards. Romo had 2 TDs for 17, but the rest of the team was terrible. Things are so difficult for the Ghosts that Larry Johnson and Antonio Pierce were led into the GM's office after the game and told to pack their bags for Harmony in exchange for Briggs and Curtis who you will hear about later.
The Ogres lit the scoreboard with 89 with everyone except Heap and the injured Ahman Green contributing at least 7.9. Roy Williams, the Eagle D, and DeMeco Ryans lead the scoring, but it was a team effort that crushed the Illini and kept the Ogres undefeated. The Illini got a very solid 15 from LaMont Jordan and Alge scored a TD as well, but the Brees blew out with a 4 int night for -5 points. Ward and Steven Jackson were injured in the loss, though Jackson did break 100 yards. The Illini are 1-2 and are clearly not pleased with the performances that they have been seeing. In order to shake things up they sent the struggling, injured Steven Jackson and the underused Santana Moss to Harmony for Thomas Jones and Darrell Jackson. We'll see how that pans out.
The Woopiecushions showed that they are for real getting their second win and the Scuds (0-3) are misfiring badly. It was the defensive game of the weak (ok, week). The Cushions were led by Delhomme (14) and the sneaky pick-up Adrian Peterson (12). Kicker Folk and the Pats D each added 10 on their way to 68. The Scuds wished desperately that they had started their bench. Kasey kicked for 11, the Ravens got 9, but.... Foster's 19, Burleson's 10, and Mason's 9.95 were left of the bench. Even Culpepper' 2.36 was better than Bulger's inept -3. the Scuds (then Bullets) looked good after the draft, but with Jacobs out, Bulger, Maroney, and Henderson laying eggs weekly, it's been rough for the reign champs.
Ballin' moves into 4th place atop the 2-1 teams by takin' it to the Raiders. Straight even left Favre and his 26 points on the bench just to make it fair. IT was the Steeler D's 17 that sparked Ballin'. Braylon Edwards got into the end zone again for 11, but having only 2 players under 4.5 got them up to their 75 point total. The Raiders? Vinatieri and Manning got their 11 and 12, McDonald caught another TD and Gates was over 100 yards, but 5 players under 3 points sank 'em to 1-2
Nobody was paying attention to what the Homie Avatar was wearing as they battled with Harmony. Everyone was watching McNabb put up 30 points for the Homies. Amazingly that didn't help the Homies because he threw 30 points worth to the Hillbillies' Kevin Curtis. The game was really decided by Driver's 13, Fletcher's 12 compared with Bruce and Briggs who were injured and scored less than 3. LT did get 10 points for Harmony. Harmony is blaming this loss on the medical crew who could not fix their players fast enough. Calvin Johnson, Bruce and Briggs (combined 5.5 points) all spent more than 1/2 the game out. Harmony GM is tired of the losing that has characterized the organization in recent times. After only 4 wins in the last 17 weeks, they made 2 block buster moves. No, not dropping Leinart. Leading rusher Thomas Jones, leading receiver (one hit wonder) Kevin Curtis, absent Darrell Jackson, and injured Lance Briggs are all out as under achieving, but talented Larry Johnson, Santana Moss, injured Steven Jackson, and Antonio Pierce come in.
Finally there was a shoot-out at the O.K. for a couple of surprise teams. Clovis was the hard luck team this week, scoring 103 and still losing to Reavers, who set the season high mark with 120. The stars aligned for Reavers who were lead by Brian Westbrook who had 31 points (when was the last time a team had 3 players over 30 points in the same week??). Kitna had 400+ yards for 15 points, Reed, Ruud, Witten, and Vincent Jackson each went over 10 and Branch had a TD as well in the high scoring affair. The Conical had yet to get anything going this season also had a 31 point rusher in Ronnie Brown. Boldin caught 22 and Young passed for 14. Had any two of Colston (3), Galloway (2), Hanson (3), and the Rams(3) really shown up, both teams might have broken the single game mark of 117 points. Sadly, Clovis drops to 0-3 after a great performance.

Week 3: Almost complete
Big Red machine keeps rolling. Another 100+ points to blow out Spit.
Back to Cali wasn't quit on the heels of the century mark this week, but more than enough to take down the Ghostriders who finally got a loss that they earned. (Has anyone seen LJ?)
Ogres will also be 3-0 unless Brees blows for 40 for the Illini.
The Woopiecushions lack luster outing was enough to hold down the Scuds who left their points on the bench.
Ballin' gets back over .500 beating the Raiders you now have the same record as their namesake.
The Homies dump the Hillibillies who will be looking for revenge on the racquetball court (LT where are you??????).
Reavers figured things out scoring a season record 120, but amazingly, the Conicals are NOT out of it yet with 2 players left to play, Colston and VY (I hate the nick name. It is too close to KY.)

Week 2: Changing of the Guard
There's a new sheriff in town. Enter, the Big Red machine. He more than doubled Reavers who is trying to figure out which way is up. Moss, Marion Barber, Rackers, Addai, and the Packers all made it to double digits with Moss and Barber hit pay dirt twice. Reavers took that Bengal D which looked so good last week and rode them to a painful minus 2 points. McGahee had a nice 11 and Kitna 10, but more was expected of Kitna. The big problem was that half the team couldn't muster 3 points leaving Reavers hoping that the trade with the Bullets will get things going.
Cali narrowly missed the century mark for the second straight week, but had more than enough to get a second win and move into second place. They sent the reigning champion Bullets to the basement at 0-2. Brady and the Viking D each put up 21 points, Winslow and Rudi Johnson threw in another 12 and Urlacher had 10 to get CALI to 99. The Bullets got 12 from the Raven D and the Bulger, but Farrior was the only other player to get more than 4 as the big expectations of Lee Evans, Santonio Holmes, El, and Maroney produced very little.
The Ogres are teh third 2-o team and break the Ghostriders heart for the second week in a row. Ghostriders were prayin' that McNabb would throw in a TD to Reggie Brown to cap their last score, but... Akers got the field goal instead. Romo had 17, Andre Johnson had 19 before leaving with an injury, TJ had 15, Antonio Pierce threw in a dozen and Portis 10 for the powerful but defenseless Ghosts. The Ogres rode the cape of Chad Johnson (23). Willie Parker, Roy Williams, and Heap each found the end zone, Akers kicked in 12, and Morrison had 11 to get the Ogres to 99 and a 5 point win. Ghosts are 0-2, but have scored the second most points in the league. Opponents are averaging 106.59 against them. CALI must be lickin' their chops at their opportunity in week 3.
Ballin' had the offense workin', but the defense failed this week as the Woopiecushions scored the high score of the season with 117.93 and moved into 4th place. Steve Smith had 27 points catching passes from Delhomme (23), Jamal Lewis ran for over 200 yards and 17 points, and the Pat's D threw in 16 to lead the Cushions. Ballin' wasn't slouching. Braylon Edwards and Gore each had 2 TDs combining for 36 points. TO, the Steelers and Elam (ooooooooh I hate type that name today) each had 11 as well for a very solid week, but this week, the Cushions were outstanding.
The Hillbillies looked like they did in 2004 and 2005 rolling up 106 points against the blindsided Raiders. The Raiders got between 9 and 11 form Manning, Jerry Porter, Gates, Vinatieri, and Merriman, but 5 or less from the rest of the team. The Hillbillies got another TD from Calvin Johnson. Jacksonville had 11 and Briggs had a big day with 17, but the story of the day was Palmer who threw for 6 TD's and 41 points which was the margin of victory.
Undefeated (great to see you at lunch yesterday, Cory) needs a new name. The Illini got off their bum (somewhat) and got out of the basement. It was a defensive battle as there were only 2 double digit contributors in the whole game. The Illini's Devner D had 14 which was more than Undefeated's 11 from Zach Thomas. Those 3 points were the difference in the score 58-55.
The Homies got their first victory of the season beating the Conicals. This games was all about team defense. The Homies had it (Chicago for 20). Clovis didn't (Miami for -3). Driver had 10 and the Caddy had 15 as well for the Homies. Galloway found the end zone a few times for 19 and VY scored 12, but Clovis couldn't over come that powerful Bear D.

Week 2: Two games left in the balance.
Week 2: A New Week
Undefeated's top spot will be lost and the name may be was well, up by only 2 against the rebounding Illini. Santana Moss gets 40 yards (and doesn't lose a fumble) and Undefeated will need a new name.
Big Red is crushing Reavers and will take over the number 1 spot. Yes, Westbrook is yet to run, but the 60 point lead is way too big as Big Red is poised to break the century mark for the second week in a row.
Cali will VERY narrowly miss the century mark for the second straight week, but that is more than enough to get then a second win and send the Bullets to 0-2.
Ballin' is the unlucky team of the week scoring 93 but finding that the Woopiecushions pack a serious punch when Mr. Smith is catching TDs.
Ogres and Ghostriders are in the middle of a tight battle. With plenty of football to play, one of these will have their fantasy D fail in spite of scoring well. It could be the second heart breaker in as many weeks for the Ghost man.
The Raiders came down from their high last week and got pounded by the Billies who rode a one man show not named LT.
The Homies look like they will get their first win dispensing with Clovis, but all is not said and done quite yet. McNabb could put up a -5 and make it a game.

Week 1: Better lucky than good
(and some of us were neither)
Undefeated is picking up where they left off at the mid point of last year. Eli hit Burress for TDs 3 times and the Colts D destroyed the Saints, each going over 20 points. Zach Thomas threw in another 13 to get Undefeated the top score of 113.4. Ghostriders were nominated to the first team unlucky team as they scored 104 in the loss. Romo was out of his mind with 5 TDs and 36 points. Seattle, Portis and Andre Johnson were also in double digits.
Big Red was .21 points off of Undefeated's pace as they blasted the Homies. Everyone contributed for Red except for Cooley (.5) and Rackers (5). That receiving corps of Holt, Wayne, and Moss produced almost 43 points. As for the Homies, well, Donovan was flat (8). Caddy?? (1.7). Shawn Alexander, London Fletcher and the Bears were in double digits and Miller got in the end zone, but 69 points wasn't going to do it against Big Red's 113.
Cali was just short of 100 as they manhandled the Cushions. Brady had a great outing for 24. Coles hit paydirt twice for 14 as did the Viking D putting up 29 points against the Falcons. The Cushions got a solid 33 from their receiving corps and 20.5 from the defensive combo of the Pats and Donnie Edwards, but less than 2 points from Rivers and the running backs sunk them.
Ballin' is in 4th after rolling over the Hillbillies by 19. TO, Cutler, Elam, Gore, and a 20 point Steeler outing carried Straight to 84 points. The Billies weren't very good sitting 20 points in Taco Bell and Calvin Johnson. LT got 16 points (on 25 yards rushing) and Palmer had 15, but the receivers (including TE) combined for only 7 as the 'Billies only managed 65 points.
The Ogres won the Super Bowl rematch, beating last year's champ, the Bullets by 22. Big Ben came out firing with 4TDs and 27 points. Chad Johnson got 10 as well. Akers, Eagles, and DeMarco added another 26.5 to get the Ogres to 79. The Bullets were bitten by the injury bug with Bulger only getting 10 after Orlando Pace went out rendering the Ram signal caller defenseless. Jacobs went down and Maroney is now running in a bit more of a running back by committee. The Raven D had 13, but it was a tough day for the Bullets.
The Raiders started their season on a winning note. Their drafting strategy of Manning, Gates, Chargers, Vinatieri paid off in week one. Each over 10 with Manning getting 23. The rest of the team... well they combined for less than 10, but it was enough to beat the Conicals. Henry and Hanson combined for 24, but VY and Boldin were the only other ones to get it the end zone.
Reavers were definitely LUCKY. Scoring second to worst 44 points and still getting a win. Only Witten had more than 10 in that game. The Illini were, well, not lucky and definitely not good. Ward got a TD for 8 and Wilkins had another 8, but nobody else got more than 5 points and 6 players had 2 or less as the Fighting were more like "flopping 'n ill" getting 28 points as a team. Who would have thunk it, Brees -1.8 and Steven Jackson .05? The team's ineptitude is not a record, however. It was surpassed quite a few times with the 18 team league in 2005. The Frodonites had 25. Stenner had 2 weeks of 23 and 25. Obispo had a 24 and 27. The Bullets and Bitco were close with 29 pointers also in 2005. Romo, Eli Manning, and the Viking D each outscored the Illini team.
So as we look to Week 2. The top 2 point scorers play the bottom 2 which on paper looks bad, but as we know the luck settings are reset each week.

2007 Draft Review
The Raiders were the trend buckers at the draft this year, going QB, TE, K, DEF, IDP before going to RB and WR. We'll see if he was about to capture the top spot in those categories and make up for Fragile Fred and Julius (Tiki syndrome) Jones.
The Cushions grabbed Steve Smith and Marvin Harrison with their top 2 picks, but with Mark Clayton as their #3, it may be the Ogres (Chad Johnson, Roy Williams, Greg Jennings, Drew Bennett) or Big Red (Holt, Wayne, Randy Moss, Curry) who have the best receiving corps.
Eli had to wait until the 5th round for Undefeated to finally claim him.
Frank Gore hung around until the 7th pick.
G Wong's Illini made Klecko the first IDP player in the 9th round. They also drafted JaMarcus Russell who has yet to sign a contract.
Ogres were the 2nd to last to grab their starting QB with Big Ben in the 10th. Woopiecushions were last with Delhomme in the 12th. (These could be the best moves of the draft.)
Vince "Madden Curse" Young went to Colvis in the 5th.
The Homies may have the steal of the draft with Devon Hester in the 12th.
Reavers took 3 starting RBs with their first 3 picks.
Michael Vick was not drafted.
Ballin' used their 12th pick on the Raider's Dominic Rhodes who was suspended the first 4 games. Bullets used their 13th pick on the Bengal's Chris Henry who will be at home the first 8 games of the season.
